Objectives of Minor / Honors

• Diversify student knowledge.
• Improve employability.
• Provide additional professional skills.
• Allow specialization in other engineering streams.

Applicability

• Open to all B.Tech (Regular & Lateral Entry) students.
• Honors registration requires a minimum CGPA of 7.0.
• No minimum CGPA requirement for Minor programs.
• Credits cannot be transferred between major and minor/honors.

Credit Requirement

• Students must earn 18 additional credits (beyond 160 for B.Tech):
• At least 3 credits from NPTEL/SWAYAM MOOCs.
• Remaining credits from 5 theory courses (3 credits each) or a mix of theory + labs.
• Courses decided by the respective department.

Structure & Rules

• 18 credits must be completed for minor/honors.
• Courses can be offline or online (NPTEL/SWAYAM).
• Attendance requirement: 65% minimum for minor courses.
• Students detained in major due to attendance/performance cannot continue.
• No electives from parent department allowed for Minors.

Monitoring & Exams

• Progress monitored by advisor/mentor from parent department.
• Max 60 seats per minor program, filled on merit.
• Exams and evaluation same as B.Tech regular courses.
• Separate transcript issued for minor subjects.
• Both major and minor must be completed within 4 years (regular) / 3 years (lateral entry).
• CGPA of major considered for class award, minor only shown separately.
